Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Aleksandre Chokheli, an individual developer based in Georgia ("we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Wordoverse mobile game and related services (the "App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

The short version. Wordoverse is playable instantly as a guest. We collect only what the game needs: your account, your progress and scores, your purchases (processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat), push-notification tokens if you enable notifications, and advertising data through Google AdMob. Your microphone is used only during a round to check the word you say — audio is processed by your device and is not recorded, stored, or sent to our servers. We don't sell your personal data. You can delete your account, and its data, from inside the App at any time.

1. Who we are & how to contact us

The App is provided by Aleksandre Chokheli, an individual developer based in Georgia, who is the data controller for personal data processed through the App. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@wordoverse.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use the App.

a. Account & identity

  • Guest accounts: when you play without signing in, we create a guest account tied to a randomly generated device identifier so that reopening the App on the same device restores your progress. A guest account has no email.
  • Google or Apple sign-in: if you choose to sign in, we receive and store a provider account identifier (your Google or Apple subject ID) and, where you or the provider make it available, your name, email address, and profile avatar image URL. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", or you sign in with a provider that does not share your email, we simply store no email. Email is a profile attribute, not a login password — we do not store passwords.
  • Display name and country: a display name (which you can change) and a country value detected from your device locale. See "Leaderboards" below for how these are shown.

b. Gameplay, profile & settings

  • Your virtual currency balance (coins), owned cosmetic items (inventory), unlocked word categories, and currently equipped cosmetics.
  • Your scores — best and daily scores per word category — and the time you last claimed the daily gift.
  • Your in-app settings: sound, vibration, and notification preferences.
  • An activity timestamp (when you last played or signed in), used to send re-engagement reminders if you have notifications enabled.

c. Leaderboards (information visible to others)

Wordoverse has daily and all-time leaderboards. When you appear on a leaderboard, your display name and country are visible to other players alongside your rank and score. If you don't want your name shown, change your display name in the App.

d. Purchases & subscription

In-app purchases and the auto-renewable subscription are billed by Apple or Google and validated through RevenueCat, our purchase-management provider. We receive and store purchase records for these transactions, including the product identifier, the store (App Store or Google Play), a transaction identifier, the purchase environment (production or sandbox), the price and currency reported to us, your subscription status and expiry, and the technical receipt/event payload for that transaction. We never receive or store your credit-card or bank details — those are handled entirely by Apple and Google.

e. Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we store one or more push tokens for your device(s) (via the Expo push service) so we can send reminders such as your daily gift or "come back and play" nudges. You can turn notifications off in the App's settings or in your device settings at any time.

f. Microphone & voice

The core of the game is speaking the shown word. When a round is active, the App uses your device microphone and your device's built-in speech-recognition to convert what you say into text so it can check whether you said the correct word. This happens transiently on your device. We do not record, store, or transmit your voice audio to our servers. See section 7 for more detail.

g. Photos (optional avatar)

If you choose to set a profile picture, the App accesses the image you select from your photo library and uploads it to our image host (Cloudinary). We store the resulting image URL on your profile. We only access photos you explicitly choose.

h. Advertising data

The App shows optional rewarded ads through Google AdMob (for example, to grant a reward). To serve and measure ads, AdMob and Google may collect device and usage information, including advertising identifiers, as described in section 6.

i. Technical data from using an online service

Like any app that talks to a server, when the App communicates with our backend, our infrastructure and hosting provider process technical connection data such as your IP address and basic device/operating-system information as part of delivering and securing the service. We use this to operate the service and guard against abuse.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and save your progress across sessions and devices.
  • To run core gameplay — serving words, checking your spoken answers, and awarding coins.
  • To operate leaderboards, cosmetics, categories, and the daily gift.
  • To process and restore in-app purchases and manage the auto-renewable subscription.
  • To send push notifications you've opted into (daily-gift and re-engagement reminders).
  • To display advertising and reward you for watching rewarded ads.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse — for example, keeping purchase transaction records so the same purchase can't be redeemed twice or transferred between accounts to duplicate rewards.
  • To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the App, your account, gameplay, purchases, and the subscription you request.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the service, prevent fraud/abuse, and (where permitted) send re-engagement reminders; you can object or opt out.
  • Consent — for push notifications, microphone access, photo access, and, where required, personalized advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time (in-app settings or device settings).
  • Legal obligation — to keep records required by law (e.g. transaction/financial records).

5. How we share information & third-party services

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that make the App work, and where required by law. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy:

Third-party services Wordoverse relies on
ProviderPurposeData involvedTheir policy
Apple — Sign in with Apple & App Store billing Optional sign-in; in-app purchases & subscription billing Apple account identifier, name/email if shared; purchase/receipt data apple.com/legal/privacy
Google — Google Sign-In & Google Play billing Optional sign-in; in-app purchases & subscription billing Google account identifier, name/email/avatar if shared; purchase data policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdMob Rewarded advertising & ad measurement Advertising identifiers, device & usage data (see section 6) policies.google.com/technologies/ads
RevenueCat Purchase validation & subscription management App user ID, product/transaction IDs, receipts, subscription status revenuecat.com/privacy
Cloudinary Hosting profile/avatar images Images you choose to upload and their URLs cloudinary.com/privacy
Expo (push notifications) Delivering push notifications Device push tokens and notification content expo.dev/privacy
MongoDB Atlas Cloud database hosting (our backend data store) The account, gameplay, and purchase data described above mongodb.com/legal/privacy-policy

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our players or us. If the App is ever transferred to another owner, account data may transfer with it, subject to this policy.

6. Advertising

Wordoverse uses Google AdMob to display rewarded ads. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and other device/usage signals to serve and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalize them. You control this:

  • iOS: personalized ads that use the advertising identifier require your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can change it under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can also limit ad tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
  • Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization under Settings → Google → Ads.
  • Where required, we ask for your consent to personalized advertising before it is used.

Learn more about how Google uses data from partner apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

7. Microphone & voice

Wordoverse needs microphone access because the game is played by saying words out loud. When a round is active, the App captures audio only for as long as needed to recognize your answer and converts it to text using your device's built-in speech-recognition capability. That text is compared, on your device, against the target word to decide if you got it right.

We do not record your voice, keep audio files, or send your audio to our servers. Note that the speech-recognition service built into your operating system (provided by Apple on iOS or Google on Android) processes the audio to perform recognition, under that platform's own privacy policy. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings; the game's core mode will not function without it.

8. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process and store information on servers located outside your country, including in jurisdictions that may have different data-protection laws than yours. Where we transfer personal data of EEA/UK users internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the service providers' standard contractual clauses and their own compliance frameworks).

9. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account). When you delete your account:

  • Your user profile and all data stored on it — display name, email (if any), scores, coins, inventory, unlocked categories, equipped cosmetics, push tokens, and subscription state — are deleted.
  • Your subscription event history and any pending or refunded purchase records are deleted.
  • Because you no longer exist in our data, you are automatically removed from leaderboards.
  • Completed purchase transaction records are retained in a de-identified form (kept only as a transaction lock) so that the same store purchase cannot be re-redeemed or transferred to another account to duplicate paid rewards. We keep these because they are also required as financial/accounting records.

Separately, Apple, Google, and RevenueCat retain their own records of your purchases as the financial system of record, under their policies. Some technical logs may persist for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. Daily scores reset automatically each day, and dead push tokens are removed automatically.

10. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data (you can edit your display name and profile in the App);
  • delete your data (use Delete Account in the App, or contact us);
  • object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (e.g. turn off notifications, or revoke microphone/photo permissions in device settings);
  • request a copy of your data (portability); and
  • lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email support@wordoverse.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Children

Wordoverse is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under those ages. If you are below the minimum age, please do not use the App. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at support@wordoverse.com and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our servers, access controls, and token-based authentication (we do not store passwords). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond appropriately to any incident.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
